Raasheda Burnett

Raasheda Burnett is a multidisciplinary abstract artist currently working within painting, drawing, and fibers. Her works have been featured in solo and group exhibitions, including Allied Arts 2021 GOLDtini, Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition 2020 Concept triennial exhibition, OVAC 2020 Momentum Exhibition, OVAC 12x12 Exhibition 2020-2022, Allied Arts OK ARTini, MuseArt Gallery Urban Hues Exhibit, and The OKC Women of Color art exhibition 2020-2023.

She has held various children's paint workshops on self expression and positive self-image with organizations such as Girl Scouts of America. In her free time she also volunteers at various art organizations and continues to engage in the community, while encouraging the use of art as a wellness practice to overcome stress, anxiety, or being overwhelmed. She teaches how one can improve his/her overall well-being through the use of creative expression.

Exploring with color theory, layers, and many textures with mixed media, textiles/fibers, and acrylic, her inspiration comes from people, multidimensional concepts, and nature. The strokes of texture resemble the beautiful scars of life we all face hidden within. The artworks represent how each color or pattern stands on its own, yet is connected to a whole stream like a puzzle or our ecosystems. Much like people and nature, we are each uniquely multifaceted and at the same time connected to one another.
